Love the hair band... love that you're writing again... love thinking of midlife rebranding as a Renaissance! I'm sending love to you and the whole family. I am proud of you.
So good. Glad you went back and bought the headband and that you're taking the time to discover who you are in this new season. Your writing is beautiful and honest. Thanks for sharing your words and wisdom with the rest of us.
I’m glad I’m not alone! A coworker I teach with once asked me to French braid her hair and I was like, “I can’t…” and she was like, “that seems like a mom skill you would have.” And this furthered cemented how big of a setback this is in my life 😆
I was smiling and nodding while reading this entire thing. I wore a headband today for the first time in ages so I feel all of it in my bones. Also, when I was complimented on the headband, I said “thanks, I’m wearing it because my hair is really dirty.” 🥲
I kid you not, that is usually the reason I’m wearing a headband and I say the same thing when people compliment my headband 😂😂 I don’t know why I can’t just say “aww thanks” to a compliment and move on.

Thank you! You’ve definitely been in my life long enough to see me grow through changes. I appreciate the investment you and Bob made in my life ♥️

Thank you, Ruth! That really means a lot—especially coming from a fellow writer.
So happy to see writing from you, Alicia! I loved this.
Couldn’t read this fast enough! I’ve missed you(r writing), friend!!
Aww, Kara! You’re my oldest internet friend I still haven’t met in real life 😂 Thank you for always being so supportive ♥️
Loved every chapter, Alicia. <3 So glad to read your long-marinated words.
Thank you, Abbigail! I’ve really missed writing and reading the words of others. ♥️
Love this and relate so much! Maybe especially to the meme about French braiding… 🫠

I love the crisis>renaissance reframe! Maybe this is the year I stop misspelling renaissance and learn how to French braid.
It really should have two ns.
Even after all the times I wrote it in this piece, I’m still not sure I could spell renaissance on the spot 😂
